This work focuses on plant remains from kitchens at the site of Arslantepe (Turkey) to address food processing and household economy throughout the Late Chalcolithic and the Early Bronze Age. More than 100,000 seeds and fruits, mainly crop remains, have been considered. A family-based agriculture is postulated for most of the periods investigated, with an increasing importance of barley as forage since the beginning of the Bronze Age. Differences between common and elite contexts are not so evident, apart from the period of political centralization (period VI A)
