Our society, which for decades has been described as a "control-based society" marked by a kind of surveillance that is both ubiquitous and user-friendly, seductive and rapacious, sedative and amphetamine-like, appears to be a form of life in which one struggles between a control exercised by the few over the many, a dispossession of one's presence and ability to act effectively, the fantasy of a total and technologically assisted self-control, the perception of an abyss in which things spiral out of control on their own, without anyone understanding anything about it.

Abstract

The idea of exhibiting a form of life, that is, the one that surrounds us, by working both on it and within it in order to explore and share its meaning is what underlies every artistic practice. Giulio Bensasson openly faces this task. Losing control is a challenging title that directly addresses one of the most complex issues of our time, namely the fact that the relationship between control and loss of control is marked by solidarity, reversals and separations.
