In 2015 two walls coverd with graffitos were discovered on the hill to the east of Hierpolis, in a hall to the west of the narthex of the church dedicated to Saint Philip. The texts are invocations to the Lord, Christ, Saint Philip. They can be dated to the end of the 6th and the 7th centuries, both through archaeological evidence and palaeographic criteria. A titulus pictus slightly earlier deserves special attention since it attests the cult of Philip as the Apostle.

Abstract
In 2015 two walls coverd with graffitos were discovered on the hill to the east of Hierpolis, in a hall to the west of the narthex of the church dedicated to Saint Philip. The texts are invocations to the Lord, Christ, Saint Philip. They can be dated to the end of the 6th and the 7th centuries, both through archaeological evidence and palaeographic criteria. A titulus pictus slightly earlier deserves special attention since it attests the cult of Philip as the Apostle.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
