Anastylosis is a restoration technique, concerns about the reconstruction, not necessarly complete, of structures or buildings built without mortar, of which contiguous elements have been found. The characteristics of these elements must allow a ’certain’ relocation, based on material evidence. The distinctive element of the anastylotic operation concerns precisely in reassembling of the pieces guided by the objective testimony provided by the fragments themselves, which are scrupulously detected and studied in their geometric and material qualities. As it’s well known, this procedure has some interpretation problems and is less 'objective' than it appears. Some examples of anastylosis with incorrect execution are analyzed in an attempt to identify the origin of the errors, more or less aware of.

Abstract
Anastylosis is a restoration technique, concerns about the reconstruction, not necessarly complete, of structures or buildings built without mortar, of which contiguous elements have been found. The characteristics of these elements must allow a ’certain’ relocation, based on material evidence. The distinctive element of the anastylotic operation concerns precisely in reassembling of the pieces guided by the objective testimony provided by the fragments themselves, which are scrupulously detected and studied in their geometric and material qualities. As it’s well known, this procedure has some interpretation problems and is less 'objective' than it appears. Some examples of anastylosis with incorrect execution are analyzed in an attempt to identify the origin of the errors, more or less aware of.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
