Abstract
A main characteristic of the relationship between art and public space, in Olivetti’s vision of urban planning, is to link technical skills, human sciences and the ability to “see”, to understand the centrality of form and aesthetics in all human activities (Pietromarchi, 2006). A comprehensive and synoptic vision that becomes an instrument for establishing a dialogue between the knowledge and the use of places, and which entrusts art with the ontological responsibility of witnessing the time, memory and identity of the urban space. The protection and enhancement of this identity is a priority, and finds a current response in the policies of urban regeneration and territorial rebalancing as a project of social inclusion and local economic development (Oliva & Ricci, 2017). In this framework, the city of Nuoro, in Sardinia, promotes an integrated and interscalar regeneration process, which safeguards the natural and cultural heritage by promoting its identity and collective value of the territory. Nuoro’s candidacy for becoming the Capitale italiana della Cultura 2020, the Piano di Rilancio del Nuorese, the Project for the creation of a Cultural District, and the objectives of the Development Strategy for inner areas (SNAI), which identifies two pilot projects in Sardinia, express, in a shared vision, the aim of supporting culture as a driver for local development by involving all sectors of the local economy. At the local scale, the continuity of public spaces is enhanced, to relaunch its central role in the structure of the city through new connections, new activities and services linked to the cultural identity of Nuoro and to its citizens starting from the monument dedicated to Sebastiano Satta, a place symbolically inhabited by the poet’s memory and daily habitable by its communityFile | Dimensione | Formato | |
