Il cristianesimo e le Weltreligionen in Ernst Troeltsch. Premesse teoriche del pluralismo religioso

Ernst Troeltsch’s thoughts on the relationship between Christianity and Weltreligionen have inspired various theories of religious pluralism, and advocates of the “Pluralistic theology of religions” have explicitly identified Troeltsch as one of their sources. This essay investigates the origins of this trajectory by examining two writings by Troeltsch in particular, Die Absolutheit des Christentums und die Religionsgeschichte (1902, 1912) and Die Stellung des Christentums unter den Weltreligionen (1922-1923), revealing continuity and differences. Epistemological reflection on the historical method and comparison with the achievements of the history of religions emerge as having played a key role in the development of Troeltsch’s thought.

Le riflessioni di Ernst Troeltsch sul rapporto tra cristianesimo e Weltreligionen sono state alla radice di diverse teorie del pluralismo religioso, e rappresentanti della “teologia pluralista delle religioni” hanno esplicitamente identificato Troeltsch come una delle loro principali fonti. Questo saggio risale alle origini di tale traiettoria esaminando in particolare due scritti di Troeltsch, Die Absolutheit des Christentums und die Religionsgeschichte (1902, 1912) e Die Stellung des Christentums unter den Weltreligionen (1922-1923), rilevandone continuità e differenze.
