Il santuario della Bona Dea fuori porta Marina a Ostia. Nuove osservazioni

As part of the research carried out for my PhD thesis entitled: "The suburbia of Ostia Antica. New researches on the urban evolution from the late Republican period to Late Antiquity", carried out between 2014 and 2018 under the direction of prof. Daniele Vitali (Université de Bourgogne - Franche-Comté, Dijon), the suburban areas of the ancient city of Ostia (Rome, Italy) were examined, with particular attention to the area outside Porta Marina. Thanks to these studies it has been possible to carry out an overall review of the data on one of the oldest buildings in the maritime quarter, the Sanctuary of the Bona Dea outside Porta Marina (IV, viii, 3). The set of data, coming from different sources (publications, excavation journals, drawings, aerial photographs, etc.) has been managed in a GIS, and has been integrated by new surveys and studies both in situ and in the Archives of the Parco Archeologico di Ostia antica. This paper presents new remarks on the Sanctuary, through the precise placement of the building in his diachronic urbanistic context, the analysis of the main building phases and the examination of the main finds related to the sanctuary.
