Článek obsahuje krátkou úvahou o tom, jak se první světová válka podílela na vývoji percepce, popisu a zobrazování lidské postavy ve středoevropském kontextu. V kontextu české (středoevropské) literatury a výtvarného umění sleduje pohyb od předválečné rozložení a fragmentace formy a postavy přes válečný masakr živých těl k poválečnému krutému a hrůznému zinscenování smrti.

"And only Death is Alive" - The paper contains a brief reflection on how the First World War contributed to the changes of the perception, description and depiction of the human figure in the Central European context. In the context of Czech (Central European) literature and fine arts, a path is traced from the pre-war fragmentation of form and figure through the war massacre of living bodies to the post-war cruel and horrible staging of death.
