Abstract: The article discusses the idea of the future envisioned by the founder of the Italian populist Five Stars Movement, the late Gianroberto Casaleggio. The authors argue that the dystopic visions held by Casaleggio of a future pacified society deprived of religions, ideologies and political opinions shed light on the Five Star Movement’s main contention: the obsolescence of representative democracy and its replacement with a gamified idea of political action.
