In legal matters, language functions as a bridge-building between experts and laymen, between theory and praxis, between rules and behaviours. In this perspective the paper analyses first lexical choices in English legal texts, then genres and text types adopted by the scientific community of jurists and lawyers. Socio-political and cultural systems are also considered for their impact on new forms of international/globalized legal language.
