Il tempio di ʿAthtar dhu-Qabḍ. Le iscrizioni

Among the considerable number of inscriptions found in the area of the temple of ʿAthtar dhu-Qabḍ, the most relevant to understand the historical and religious function of this building within the Minaean phase of ancient Yathill are presented. Some of them are still in place, but the vast majority comes from secondary deposition, as they have been found reemployed in the subsequent Islamic structures. The typology of the texts concerned is varied: construction inscriptions, dedicatory inscriptions, and brief texts written in the cultic furniture of the temple (i.e. offering tables, incense burners, stelae). A selection within the legal documentation, particularly abundant in this temple, has been made and helps to focus on the cultic and historical dimension of the building. Some information is also added by a number of the most significant fragmentary texts of indeterminate typology.
