Lo scavo fuori mura in R44/45 a Barāqish. Le iscrizioni

The clearing of the area in front of T44 and T45 has brought to light some inscribed blocks pertaining to the façade of the urban walls. Some of them have been found within the collapsed material, while others have been identified in the newly-exposed rows of the wall, reemployed during the early Islamic restoration of the defensive walls. This scant material is mainly composed by fragments of construction inscriptions, usually the most frequent textual typology within the inscriptions engraved on the urban walls. Relevant from a historical point of view is the collation of three fragments of the text Y.03.B.R44-45.2, which revealed a previously unknown co-regency between King Abyadaʿ Yathaʿ and his son Ḥayyawum.
