The essay aims to explain the context and the history of the so-called Additamentum Aldinum. This section of Silius Italicus’ Punica was not transmitted by the manuscripts and appeared for the first time in the edition published by Aldo Manuzio in 1523, filling a lacuna in the eighth book of the poem. Although it is still debated whether the Additamentum is authentic or not, this work wants to demonstrate through some Transformation categories (Reconstruction and Supplementation) the real necessity of this section in the framework of the book.
