Abstract According to the advancement of recent technologies in different fields, we can see its effects in planning and organizing new cities. In this context, the topic of Smart Cities has been introduced since 1990, in different fields such as smart energy, smart mobility & transportation, smart building and so on. But an issue that has not been considered properly so far is challenging of implementing intelligent city factors in historic and ancient cities with the history of urbanization and worthwhile architecture in infrastructure and old buildings. Creating appropriateness and equivalency between this seemingly contradictory with context can involve designers in a variety of fields ranging. The main hypothesis of the research is whether making intelligent of ancient cities can affect the growth of tourist attraction. Therefore, with descriptive analysis method a definition of the concepts of intelligent city and the introduction of its main characters and infrastructure will be reviewed in the following. Also, the discussions of experts and various studies in this field will be studied in general. The results indicate that despite the limitations in the intelligence of ancient cities, by studying the background and context of the city, it caused encouragement of more tourists by using new technologies and enhance the tourism economy.
