In this paper I discuss: a) the different formation of MP bāzūg and bāzā(y), that are evidently cognates; (b) the alternate transcriptions bāzā and bāzāy; and (c) the distribution and the meanings, in the Middle Persian of the Pahlavi Books, of bāzūg and bāzā(y), both simply glossed as ‘arm’ by Nyberg and MacKenzie.
