In general terms energy efficiency refers generically to the ability of a physical system to achieve a given result by using the least amount of energy compared to other less efficient systems, increasing its efficiency and consequently achieving energy savings, lower costs and environmental benefits (Cumo et al., 2019). This concept became widespread at the beginning of the 21st century as an effective tool to address recent challenges related to resource scarcity, climate change due to climate-changing gas emissions and dependence on imports of energy mainly from non-renewable sources (Di Franco, 2017). In addition to the obvious environmental benefits, pursuing energy efficiency objectives also implies greater energy independence and economic competitiveness, as well as the creation of new jobs thanks to the demand for new qualified professionals (PNIEC, 2019).

Abstract
In general terms energy efficiency refers generically to the ability of a physical system to achieve a given result by using the least amount of energy compared to other less efficient systems, increasing its efficiency and consequently achieving energy savings, lower costs and environmental benefits (Cumo et al., 2019). This concept became widespread at the beginning of the 21st century as an effective tool to address recent challenges related to resource scarcity, climate change due to climate-changing gas emissions and dependence on imports of energy mainly from non-renewable sources (Di Franco, 2017). In addition to the obvious environmental benefits, pursuing energy efficiency objectives also implies greater energy independence and economic competitiveness, as well as the creation of new jobs thanks to the demand for new qualified professionals (PNIEC, 2019).File | Dimensione | Formato | |
