Overturning the terms of a discourse of literary narrative and geographical description it could be argued that the narrative was born in a geographical sense, just from literary descriptions. Only in relatively recent phase seem possible to be able to track down all of the attention to the specific geography of the literary text perhaps also in relation to two main considerations: the epistemological shift of humanistic geography of the seventies and, more recently, the general awareness of the centrality of the space with respect to time. There are, therefore, of the possible limits within which to circumscribe a space, a literary landscape? The answer, perhaps all that resides in the Statute of the reference criteria, appears in the work of Pier Paolo Pasolini's very complex. The representation of the landscape seems prevalent in the work of the author Friulian a real place of living, certainly not a model of aesthetic interpretation similar to a construction mussale. The landscape is in Pasolini's place of living, historical memory, and perhaps identity.
Ribaltando i termini di un discorso su narrazione letteraria e descrizione geografica si potrebbe affermare che la narrazione geografica nasce in un certo senso proprio a partire dalle descrizioni letterarie. Solo in una fase relativamente più recente sembra tuttavia possibile poter rintracciare un’attenzione del tutto specifica della geografia verso il testo letterario forse anche in relazione a due considerazioni principali: la svolta epistemologica della geografia umanistica degli anni Settanta e, più di recente, la generale presa di coscienza della centralità dello spazio rispetto al tempo. Esistono dunque dei possibili limiti entro cui poter circoscrivere uno spazio, un paesaggio letterario? La risposta, che risiede forse tutta nello statuto dei criteri di riferimento, appare nell’opera di Pier Paolo Pasolini molto complessa. La rappresentazione dei paesaggi ci appare infatti nell’opera dell’autore friulano un vero e proprio luogo dell’abitare, non certo un modello di interpretazione estetica simile ad un allestimento mussale. Il paesaggio si fa in Pasolini luogo dell’abitare, memoria storica e, forse, identitaria.
