The essay examines the pericopes of the Synoptic Gospels in which children are presented as privileged by Jesus, in order to identify the reasons for this privilege, reasons that the texts do not make explicit. Taking into consideration the wider context in which the episodes are situated and applying the method of scriptural interpretation particularly used by ancient ecclesiastical writers - interpreting Scripture with Scripture - the characteristics that Jesus must have observed in children, to the point of proposing them as models for those who followed him and to identify their acceptance with what he wanted to be reserved to himself and to the Father, they appear to be the following: they are in tune with the mystery of cosmic salvation that will be realized at the fulfillment of history and they are available to aski questions wishing to penetrate deeply into the mystery of God, in order to derive joy from it and not scandal or sadness.

Abstract
The essay examines the pericopes of the Synoptic Gospels in which children are presented as privileged by Jesus, in order to identify the reasons for this privilege, reasons that the texts do not make explicit. Taking into consideration the wider context in which the episodes are situated and applying the method of scriptural interpretation particularly used by ancient ecclesiastical writers - interpreting Scripture with Scripture - the characteristics that Jesus must have observed in children, to the point of proposing them as models for those who followed him and to identify their acceptance with what he wanted to be reserved to himself and to the Father, they appear to be the following: they are in tune with the mystery of cosmic salvation that will be realized at the fulfillment of history and they are available to aski questions wishing to penetrate deeply into the mystery of God, in order to derive joy from it and not scandal or sadness.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
