Commento interpretativo ai dati sulle biblioteche della Sapienza

The libraries of the Sapienza University of Rome are highly different, for structures, services and activities. In 2019 a survey attempted to explain how this heterogeneity affects - or may affect in the future - the role and impact that the libraries have. The analysis and reinterpretation of the performance data (collected by the Sapienza library System) gave as a result the segmentation of the libraries by type of role they currently play. Then the survey focused on the libraries’ future: eight interviews with the managers of Sapienza libraries focused on the behaviour that the libraries should adopt in the future in order to maintain or strengthen their support function for the university missions. In addition to some ideas for the improvement of the communication between libraries, the survey revealed that the Sapienza libraries currently play four different types of role and that librarians and the University library System share the intention for the future to move towards a single model of library, that manages to play a role and have an impact on all university missions.

Attualmente le strutture, i servizi e le attività delle biblioteche della Sapienza Università di Roma risultano fortemente eterogenei. Nel 2019 un’indagine ha cercato di spiegare come tale eterogeneità influisca – o potrà influire in futuro – sul ruolo e sull’impatto che le strutture bibliotecarie hanno: a partire dall’analisi e dalla reinterpretazione dei dati di performance raccolti dal Sistema bibliotecario si è proposta una segmentazione delle biblioteche Sapienza per tipo di ruolo attualmente ricoperto. L’indagine si è poi concentrata sul futuro delle biblioteche: i responsabili di alcune biblioteche della Sapienza sono stati intervistati a proposito dei comportamenti che le biblioteche dovranno adottare in futuro per mantenere o rafforzare la loro funzione di supporto alle tre missioni universitarie. Oltre ad alcuni spunti per il miglioramento della comunicazione tra biblioteche, dall’indagine sono emersi quattro diversi tipi di ruolo che le biblioteche della Sapienza rivestono e l’intenzione per il futuro – condivisa dai bibliotecari e dal Sistema bibliotecario Sapienza – di muoversi verso un unico modello di biblioteca, che riesca a ricoprire un ruolo e ad avere un impatto su tutte le missioni universitarie.
