La rilevanza dell'Inclusive Design nella progettazione architettonica e urbana

Inclusive Design (ID) is not a design category per se, it is not a discipline of its own, nor is it a sector where one can demonstrate one’s expertise. Inclusive Design doesn’t appear on the list of skills one should acquire and capitalise on. It has no goals that must be met or formally recognised. Inclusive Design moves, it never stops. It cannot follow rules because it cannot be ‘applied’. Instead, it drives research forward, invalidating it and downgrading it whenever it aims for specific achievements or certainties. The shifting material of which it is made and that is its main prerequisite is inextricably linked to the ‘human factor’; it must therefore remain an activity that constantly and flexibly cleaves to life. The way it defines itself as ‘inclusive’, however, indicates that it differentiates itself from any other design-based alternative approach that bases itself on exclusivity, selectiveness and specialism. L’Inclusive Design (ID) non è una categoria progettuale, non una disciplina a sé, non un settore nel quale esprimere competenza posseduta. L’Inclusive Design sfugge al registro delle conoscenze da acquisire e capitalizzare. L’Inclusive Design non ha traguardi da conseguire e mettere agli atti. L’Inclusive Design si muove. Non si ferma. Non può affidarsi a norme poiché non è cosa da "applicare". Esso, piuttosto, sospinge la ricerca. La invalida e la declassa qualora essa si appunti su raggiungimenti o su certezze. L’”incontornabile” materia di cui si sostanzia e che ne costituisce il presupposto principe si lega infatti, indissolubilmente, al “fattore umano”; dev’essere quindi un’attività costantemente ed elasticamente aderente alla vita. Il suo definirsi “inclusivo”, però, presume il suo distinguersi da ogni alternativo approccio progettuale che si attesti invece su esclusività, selettività, specialismo.
