Ruralism and innovation: design and construction of a small rural building in the Langa

Minor architecture and architecture of the path, strategies for the enhancement of a diffuse building heritage. The work shows part of the research in which a central role is invested by the project of recovery and practical realization of a small building in stone (the ciabòt) with the creation of a network of built heritage belonging to the traditional architecture of the Alta Langa. Traditionally characterized by arenaria stone walls with mud mortar, wooden architraves for the apertures and wooden beams for the floors, by “ciape” stone for the covering, the restored building will be explained starting from the architectural design project to the construction problems, from the selection of materials to the site, from the site tools to the methods used to use them.
