Buddha's word. The life of books in Tibet and beyond

This book is authored by Hildegard Diemberger, Mark Elliott and Michela Clemente with contributions of different specialists. It is the result of an AHRC project entitled "Transforming Technologies and Buddhist Book Culture: The Introduction of Printing and Digital Text Reproduction in Tibetan Societies", and of a Marie Curie Project entitled "Tibetan Book Evolution and Technology", both carried out at the University of Cambridge. It was realised to accompany an exhibition held at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology in Cambridge, which was also one of the outputs of the above-mentioned projects. The book focuses on different aspects of Buddhist books (especially Indo-Tibetan artefacts), such as their status as relics, the printing technologies which produced them, the materials of which they are made. It also describes the collection in which the exhibited books are preserved.
