The article analyses the episode of the assassination of Agamemnon in the Roman de Troie by Benoît de Sainte Maure and the chain of crimes that ensues. The aim is to study the ways in which the classical Greek tragedy reached the Middle Ages, and analyse the cultural and scholastic mediations it underwent, as well as the new meanings it acquired in the ancient French novel.
