Primary immunodeficiencies (PID) include multiple genetic defects that belong to the group of rare diseases. N More than 70 diseases are classified as PID. N The risk and type of infections change according to the main defects of the immune system, and are classified as antibody deficiencies, combined immunodeficiencies and phagocytic disorders. N A PID diagnosis should be considered in patients presenting with severe and recurrent respiratory infections, with granulomatous diseases or with life-threatening invasive pulmonary infections.
