The text investigates the figure of Pouillon as a discussed, adventurous and contradictory character, a true master in habitat design in the late twentieth century, during which time he had a modest critical fortune, and not only in Italy. If one were to draw up the ranking of the major architects of the twentieth century, Pouillon certainly deserves a top position. Although Pouillon will build large, unconventional housing settlements in France, Algeria and Marseille, he will always remain outside the history of official architecture. Pouillon is a designer of great ambition, who loves stone, of which he knows its versatility and limits; which governs the effects of light with empathic subtlety; that cultivates the monumentality of classical building. Architect of an unrecognized talent, with declared humility he apologizes for his reckless ambition, which consists in "wanting to make men happy!" As can be read in his various writings, collected in 2011 by Bernard Marrey under the revealing title: Fernand Pouillon. Mon ambition. (Ed. Du Linteau).

Abstract
(Ed. Du Linteau).File | Dimensione | Formato | |
