Archaeological research projects at Colombarone (PU), led by the University of Bologna between 1983 and 2005, have revealed evidence of a great settlement complex, first residential and later clerical, placed along the Via Flaminia between Pesaro and Rimini. The site’s chronology has a long duration, from the late Imperial period to High Middle Ages. Its long life is due to its strategic position from the point of view of the road system, and for the same reason, a good presence of imported ceramics has been recorded. These last indicate active trade with North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean area, while other vases can be linked to regional or local production.

Abstract
Archaeological research projects at Colombarone (PU), led by the University of Bologna between 1983 and 2005, have revealed evidence of a great settlement complex, first residential and later clerical, placed along the Via Flaminia between Pesaro and Rimini. The site’s chronology has a long duration, from the late Imperial period to High Middle Ages. Its long life is due to its strategic position from the point of view of the road system, and for the same reason, a good presence of imported ceramics has been recorded. These last indicate active trade with North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean area, while other vases can be linked to regional or local production.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
