writes De Carlo: "The building units are of three types and each type contains an accommodation that, according to the rules of subsidized construction, can be 46, 70 or 95 square meters. The warehouse on the ground floor, the stairs and the various terraces on the upper levels are not included in the calculation of the areas. The two smallest units are organised on two floors and the largest unit on three floors. The larger unit falls into the most sensitive joints of the structure and underlines them. The units have been combined to form buildings that differ in composition, size, orientation and exposure to the outdoor spaces that they contribute to define. When they become part of the buildings, the original types of units dissolve; because it is foreseen in their organisational system that they can adapt to the diversity of present and future circumstances, without compromising the formal integrity of the whole". scrive De Carlo: “Le unità edilizie sono di tre tipi e ciascun tipo contiene un alloggio che, secondo le norme dell’edilizia sovvenzionata, può essere di 46, 70 o 95 metri quadrati. Il magazzino al piano terreno, le scale e le varie terrazze ai livelli superiori, non rientrano nel calcolo delle superfici. Le due unità più piccole sono organizzate su due piani e l’unità più grande su tre piani. Quella più grande cade nelle articolazioni più sensibili della struttura e le sottolinea. Le unità sono state associate per formare edifici diversi tra loro per composizione, dimensione, orientamento, esposizione verso gli spazi esterni che concorrono a definire. Quando entrano a far parte degli edifici, i tipi originali delle unità si dissolvono; perché è previsto nel loro sistema organizzativo che possano adattarsi alle diversità delle circostanze presenti e anche future, senza compromettere l’integrità formale dell’insieme”.
