La storiografia francese e il retaggio delle rivoluzioni del 1917

Recent French historiography of Russia between 1917 and 1924 reproduces the esprit des histoires par en bas, leading historical research back to an overall investigation that describes how the different classes were affected by revolutionary events. It is a historiography that sums up the interpretative elements of the multiverse revolutionary, facing Russian history with an inclusive canon and definitively overcoming the determinism of Marxist historiography. Inclusivity is the methodological feature of this social historiography (deriving largely from the school of the Annales), which reconstructs the narrative of dialectic and revolutionary practice in the long period 1905-1924. A common aspect of the new French historiographic orientations linked to the fourth generation of the Annales seems to be both interpretative and methodological. In a sense, the new historical research suggests an approach that contemplates both the revolutionary fracture as a historical event of caesura between past and present, and the continuity and social resistance of the masses in Russia. The desire to reconstruct the events of revolutionary Russia 'from below' and to conceive them within the European civil war and the construction of the international order, is part of an idea of history as a narrative of complementary rather than alternative events.

La recente storiografia francese sulla Russia tra 1917 e 1924 riproduce l'esprit des histoires par en bas, riconducendo la ricerca storica a un’indagine d’insieme che descrive in che modo i diversi ceti siano stati investiti dagli avvenimenti rivoluzionari. Si tratta di una storiografia che somma gli elementi interpretativi del pluriverso rivoluzionario, affrontando la storia russa con un canone inclusivo e superando definitivamente il determinismo della storiografia marxista. L'inclusività è la cifra metodologica di questa storiografia sociale (derivante in gran parte dalla scuola delle Annales), che ricostruisce la narrazione della dialettica e della prassi rivoluzionaria nel lungo periodo 1905-1924. Aspetto comune dei nuovi orientamenti storiografici francesi legati alla quarta generazione delle Annales sembra essere sia interpretativo che metodologico. In un certo senso la nuova ricerca storica suggerisce un approccio che contempli sia la frattura rivoluzionaria come evento storico di cesura tra passato e presente, sia la continuità e la resistenza sociale delle masse in Russia. La volontà di ricostruire gli avvenimenti della Russia rivoluzionaria ‘dal basso’ e, di concepirli all’interno della guerra civile europea e della costruzione dell’ordine internazionale, rientra in una idea della storia come narrazione di eventi complementari piuttosto che alternativi.
