Abstract
Known as the bad girl of underground literature during the Soviet era for her harsh, disturbing prose writings and plays, Lyudmila Petrushevskaya since the late 1990s has been writing very unusual fantastic short-stories, which intermix patterns of genres as different as dystopia, gothic fiction, fairy tales for grown-ups and urban folklore. The distinguishing feature of Petrushevskaya's approach to fantastic is an intriguing mystical atmosphere. A suffocating and oppressive family and social framework of Soviet-era human relationships, while still painted in a deeply pessimistic way, now opens into unexpectedly bright horizons. Borders between real and unreal collapse, worlds become interconnected, death may change into life, dream into reality.INGLESEFile | Dimensione | Formato | |
