Visual Arts and tropical vitalism in the architecture of Lina Bo Bardi

Visiting the buildings of Lina Bo Bardi in São Paulo is a very strong experience, which leads to relect on the life of the architect more than what her works do. In the projects of the Italo-Brazilian architect there is no separation between life and art, a very rare situation for the practice of architecture, where most the times the work is a result of a collective work. Architecture lies at the border between art and profession, as it depends also on the taste and power of the purchasers, on the place where it will rise, on the existing laws, on the customs of society, nonetheless on the natural laws of statics. In the case of Bo Bardi, we cannot quite talk of a mere professional career, but of a radical artistic practice.
