"The monographic issue of Diid, entitled Design after modernity, offers a reflection on the theme of modernity and its topicality in relation to the issues of the Design project, opening the debate on the recomposition and re-articulation of our time, beyond nostalgia for a past that could become a refuge and to escape from a future that presents itself as uncertain, if not as a threat. After the great collective projects, the idea of progress is privatized in an omnivorous present and opens a series of questions: what is the destiny of the project in a time that renounces the progressive development of history? If the artificial project is the representation of our material culture, what are the forms that can still interpret a collective project? Design after modernity intends to investigate the relevance of modern design and its contemporary expressions in the Design project. Chiosando Amleto, who exclaims "Time is out of joint" after meeting the ghost of his father, if our time is unhinged: "that I was born to put it back together?
«Il numero monografico di Diid con il titolo Design after modernity, propone una riflessione sul tema della modernità e della sua attualità in rapporto alle questioni del progetto di Design, aprendo il dibattito sulla ricomposizione e la ri-articolazione del nostro tempo, oltre la nostalgia verso un passato che potrebbe diventare un rifugio e per fuggire da un futuro che si presenta come incerto, se non come minaccia. Dopo i grandi progetti collettivi, l'idea di progresso si privatizza in un presente onnivoro e apre una serie di questioni: quale è il destino del progetto in un tempo che rinuncia allo sviluppo progressivo della storia?
