Cultural psychology as the science of sensemaking: a semiotic-cultural framework for psychology

In this chapter, I have called for the development of cultural psychology as the general theory of psychology for the twenty-first century – able to restore the unity of the discipline, nowadays fragmented in a Babylon of circumscribed and phenomena-triggered theories. I have argued that such a task requires the shift to a modelistic, theory driven approach and I have tried to make a step ahead in that direction by outlining the basic elements of a semiotic and dynamic metatheoretical framework.
