The growing attention, in the international context, to the themes of sustainable urban Development, places at the center of the scientific disciplinary debate new design perspectives to create resilient cities. The EU has recently stressed the need to integrate urban planning strategies with solutions based on nature and ecosystems in order to contribute to the overall improvement of ecological conditions and to increase resilience of communities and territories, turning environmental and social challenges into opportunities for innovation. In this context, the Green and Blue Infrastructures are configured as a resource that can offer benefits not only in terms of landscape quality, but also in terms of improvement of the urban ecological functioning and environmental safety, as well as in terms of quality of the public space, for the satisfaction of social needs and a new urban welfare. The present paper, through the analysis of a significant urban planning experience carried out in the spanish city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, proposes a reflection on the strategies and actions put in place to achieve specific goals of prevention and mitigation of environmental risks, as well as adaptation to climate change and regeneration of public space in a resilient perspective, through the use of green solutions based on nature and ecosystem services.

Abstract
The present paper, through the analysis of a significant urban planning experience carried out in the spanish city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, proposes a reflection on the strategies and actions put in place to achieve specific goals of prevention and mitigation of environmental risks, as well as adaptation to climate change and regeneration of public space in a resilient perspective, through the use of green solutions based on nature and ecosystem services.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
