Introduzione

Presentation of the contents of the volume referring to the evolution of sociological thought on the social figure of the stranger: starting from the thought of Tonnies, Simmel, Sombart, Michels, many sociologists including Park, Thomas, Wood, Schutz, Myrdal, Adorno, Elias, Merton and the sociologists of the advanced modernity ( Bauman, Beck, Giddens, Inglehart) have contributed to define the social representation of the stranger and the system of relationships established with the integrated groups, with a course of study that proceeds parallel to the development of sociology and is influenced by the theories that progressively emerge in the discipline. In the introduction we also present four focus of particular historical situations in which it was carried out in an attempt to exterminate entire peoples and human groups: African-Americans, Jews, Roma and Sinti, heretics.

Presentazione dei contenuti del volume con riferimento all'evoluzione del pensiero sociologico sulla figura sociale dello straniero: a partire dalla riflessione di Tonnies, Simmel, Sombart, Michels, molti sociologi tra cui Park, Thomas, Wood, Schutz, Myrdal, Adorno, Elias, Merton e i sociologi della seconda modernità (Bauman, Beck, Giddens, Inglehart) hanno contribuito a definire la rappresentazione sociale dello straniero e il sistema di relazioni che si instaura con i gruppi integrati, con un percorso di approfondimento che procede parallelamente allo sviluppo della Sociologia e che risente delle influenze teoriche che progressivamente vengono a maturazione nella disciplina. Nell'Introduzione vengono inoltre presentati i focus di approfondimento di particolari situazioni storiche in cui si è realizzato il tentativo di sterminio di popoli e gruppi umani: afro-americani, ebrei, rom e sinti, eretici.
