Le immagini dello spazio domestico

The domestic space is the freespace par excellence. The domestic space is a representation of the different personalities who conceive it and who inhabit it. The design of the domestic space provides, attracts and feeds images drawing on memories, experiences and sensations of man. Architecture has always been nourished by these images, taking in the projections of the art world, the narrativity of cinematography and photographic memories. So there are countless images that can nurture an architect to fully understand the potentials, the vocations and the expectations that arise and stand out in the living space. By connecting these images, like in a new Atlas of Mnemosyne, we can create innovative and surprising connections able to trigger an uninterrupted process of recontextualization of the idea of inhabiting. This is the experience made by the students of the Visual Culture and Representation of Architecture course, as part of the degree course in Architecture at Sapienza University of Rome. The text intends to illustrate part of the premises on which the theme of the year 2017-2018 has been set and the interdisciplinary methodology that wants to recall the associative logics typical of project thinking.
