The figure of Constantine the Great is dealt with by the Coptic tradition in four different typologies of texts, which all together constitute an important documentary corpus: 1) the historiographic production, mainly represented by the HistoriaEcclesiasticaAlexandrina and by the History of the Patriarchs, 2) a substantial number of hagiographic works, 3) some liturgical texts, such as the SynaxariumAlexandrinum and an acrostic hymn from the Fayyum and 4) one ostrakon found in the Monastery of Epiphanius at Thebes. This article aims at delineating a status quaestionis of what we know about Constantine in the Coptic tradition.
