The materials libraries are a useful tool for understanding the complex and ever-changing world of materials and of all creative activities. The library of materials organize materials that are an inexhaustible resource for inspiration as well as knowledge for designers, companies and researchers. The materials libraries, therefore, help the designers to orientate into the ‘super- materials market’ and into the disorienting condition (‘iperscelta’ Manzini, 1986). For this reason many of them were born into research centers, universities, institutions and companies. Material Connexion is the first library of materials (New York, 1997) and today MC is the bigger material library brings together over 6,000 materials and processes from around the world: an international network with offices in New York, Milan, Bangkok, Beijing, Cologne, Daegu, Istanbul, Seoul, Shanghai, Skövde, Tokyo. In Italy Material Connexion has opened several Material Point (Lombardy, Friuli, Marche, Basilicata and Calabria) and in Rome, the only case so far, into a University Department, the Dip. of Planning , Design, Technology of Architecture, Sapienza University
