The essay focuses on an aspect of Mambor's activity in the 1960s: his interest in schematic representations of objects and human figures lead him to take images not only from urban context, but also from popular magazine, e. g. the "Settimana Enigmistica". Attracted by rebus puzzles, he cut out the drawings and - starting in 1964 - he began to manipulate them, deleting letters and details and painting over areas of the images.
