Il progetto di consolidamento di palazzo Alfieri a L'Aquila

The complex of palazzo Alfieri, that includes the 13th century palace, the 14th century Church and a connecting construction from the 16th century, is located in via Fortebraccio 56 in L’Aquila. This was the sub-urban residence of one of the most powerful families of that city in the Renaissance. Damaged by the earthquake on the 6th of April 2009, the building has structural problems that diverted the focus of the research. In the absence of a historical-critical systematic analysis of this case study; direct architectural surveys, an analysis of the structural damages and indirect researches were held allowing to retrace the phases of the palace. This study was filtered through the modern theory and resulted in a restoration project for the whole complex, the possibility to intervene on localized damages and the seismic improvement of the building while considering its historical value.
