In disseminating and promoting the understanding of the cultural heritage, 3D modeling is increasingly used to provide an idea of what objects actually looked like in the past. The procedures and tools used for this purpose are familiar from their applications in other areas. This paper presents a method for creating a 3D modeling of an archeological Area: the Imperial Fora in Rome using an open-source pipeline. In addition to providing tools for generating and controlling forms, the modeler also makes it possible to navigate through the textured model in real time. The model can be 3D printed to produce a physical version of the architecture of the past.
