Violence in Mexico is a social problem that has affected most of the country's population. In this scenario, Sinaloa has become an entity characterized by its high levels of violence, related to drug trafficking. The objective of this research was to know the social representation that the population of Culiacán, Sinaloa, has of violence. The sample consisted of 300 subjects, divided on the basis of two social positions: age (youth between 18-26 years, adults between 30-60 years and adults over 60 years of age) and sex (150 men and 150 women) . The results showed two dimensions in the discourse on violence: the feminine dimension and the masculine dimension. While the discourse of the women's group explains violence from the consequences such as assaults, drug consumption and murders, the discourse of the men's group explains violence from causes such as corruption, delinquency and social deprivation. they are presented in the context of the population.
