The article presents a case study about one aspect of the history of contemporary Italian philosophy. The Gioberti’s “long youth” arrives until 1838, as he published his first work (Teo- rica del sovranaturale). The publication of new documents in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries has often confused the picture of Giobertian biography. The author shows how it was possible to offer a different image of Gioberti’s youth biography, with the discovery of theoretical sources and cultural trends previously unknown.
