Turning waste into a resource is part of ‘closing the loop’ in circular economy systems. The present paper deals with the production of reduced salinity fertilizers (RESAFE) in order to substitute chemicals and mineral fertilizers trough a technological route based on urban organic waste (UOW), bio-char and farm organic residues (FOR) processing. The activities were carried out in the framework of the current RESAFE LIFE project “Innovative fertilizer from urban waste, bio-char and farm residues as substitute of chemicals fertilizers” in which innovative oxidative/composting strategies and monitoring techniques are utilized to obtain High Quality Organic Matter Based Produc (HQ-ORBP). The goal is the demonstration of an innovative composting/monitoring technique to obtain High Quality Organic Matter Based Product. The process and fertilizer final quality were monitored by chemical-physical parameters (pH, dry matter, salinity, TOC, TN, OCsoluble, Nsoluble, P, K, micronutrients), enzymatic activities and microbial respiration and HIS, hyperspectral imaging, in the near infrared range (1000-1700 nm). Final selected recipe, to use in pilot plant and for field agronomic test, is presented.
