The aim of our experimental work was to ascertain whether reduction treatments with borane tert-butylamine complex could improve the paper resistance to ageing. For this purpose, TG and DTG analysis were applied to Whatman paper which was oxidized and reduced and then subjected to ageing. Untreated samples were also aged and used as a reference. Experimental results lead to the conclusion that reduction treatments with borane tert-butylamine complex protect the paper against the ageing and oxidation to which it is liable. Furthermore, the samples thus treated are found to be thermally more stable.
