This paper tries to analyse the question of the relationship among rational galenic medicine, theology and religion. We will concentrate on the notion of divinity as it appears from Galen’s treatise De propriis placitis and its connections with other works from the Galenic Corpus. We will try to understand wheter it is possible to conceive rational medicine despite the influence exerced by the divinity, and to what extent the galenic physician accepts to investigate the domain of metaphysics.

Abstract
This paper tries to analyse the question of the relationship among rational galenic medicine, theology and religion. We will concentrate on the notion of divinity as it appears from Galen’s treatise De propriis placitis and its connections with other works from the Galenic Corpus. We will try to understand wheter it is possible to conceive rational medicine despite the influence exerced by the divinity, and to what extent the galenic physician accepts to investigate the domain of metaphysics.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
