How to remain human beings in traffic. This book tells the human comedy that takes place every day in the streets, in parking lots, in relations with the other protagonists of the performance: pedestrians, drivers, firefighters, valet parking. This volume takes its cue from a research carried out in three well-known neighborhoods in Rome on mobility strategies adopted by the citizens to survive the chaos of traffic, but the goal that the author arises - even using the paradigm is to Goffman- propose more general interpretation of urban behavior. The traffic is a consequence of structural conditions (of cities and roads construction mode, collapse of public transport, neighborhoods without autonomy) but is also the result of behaviors that we, inhabitants of these jungles, we have adopted.

Come rimanere esseri umani in mezzo al traffico. Questo libro racconta la commedia umana che ogni giorno si svolge nelle strade, nei parcheggi, nelle relazioni con gli altri protagonisti della rappresentazione: pedoni, automobilisti, vigili, parcheggiatori. Questo volume prende lo spunto da una ricerca svolta in tre noti quartieri di Roma sulle strategie di mobilità adottate dai cittadini per sopravvivere al caos del traffico, ma l’obiettivo che l’autrice si pone – anche utilizzando il paradigma di Goffman- è quello di proporre un’interpretazione più generale dei comportamenti urbani. Il traffico infatti è conseguenza di situazioni strutturali (modalità di costruzione di città e strade, collasso dei mezzi pubblici, quartieri senza autonomia) ma è anche il risultato di comportamenti che noi, abitanti di queste giungle, abbiamo adottato.
