“Unity of culture and constitution in Europe” is a collection of three essays of Werner Sombart which consist of three sketches explaining the story of European cultural unity from medieval period to the twentieth century. He composed these essays probably through dictation in the autumn of 1940 just few years before his death. They remained unpublished until 2005, his son Nicolaus then took lead to publish them for the first time in original German language and therefore they are availabile to read and Pierangelo pitched in for the Italian edition which was published by Bibliopolis (Sombart, 2005). We are therefore dealing with reflections (Iannone in Antonini, 2006) which are relatively less known (Sombart, 1978) (Barbieri, Bertolino, Caroselli, Luzzato, 1964) (Bertolino, 1944) in comparison to the other publications of the author but nonetheless are equally important. In fact, they offer critical insights about the undoubted actuality of Europe which go beyond any specific contents. The key to the proposed readings is based on the analysis of Schiera, revisited in the light of further critical considerations.
