Il cambio della guardia - Mondo Cinese

This special issue of Mondo Cinese highlights the main characteristics of the transition of power accomplished by the 18th Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. Similarly to the 16th Congress, the latest Congress was an orderly transition, but the first one really completed since 1949: Hu Jintao’s handing over of the Military Commission presidency was in fact an authentic surprise. This move can be seen as an obvious defeat of the former General Secretary: but this and many other elements have been completely misinterpreted by the official propaganda. So the purpose of this essay is to shed new light on many unclear points of this event and also to investigate the effects of the Bo Xilai affair on the current political arena. Moreover this analysis will offer a preliminary evaluation of the reformist attitudes of the new leader, Xi Jinping, assessing some first signals of continuity with the past administration.

Questo numero speciale della rivista Mondo Cinese sottolinea le caratteristiche principali della transizione di poteri dopo il XVIII Congresso del Pcc: similmente al XVI Congresso, nell’ultimo evento ha avuto luogo una transizione ordinata, la prima realmente completa dal 1949: la rinuncia da parte di Hu Jintao alla presidenza della Commissione Militare Centrale è stata infatti un’autentica sorpresa. Questa mossa è stata considerata come un’ovvia sconfitta del precedente Segretario generale. Infatti lo scopo di questo saggio è quello di gettare nuova luce su molti punti oscuri su questo evento e quello anche di analizzare gli effetti dell’affare Bo Xilai sulla situazione politica contemporanea.
