A numerical analysis of the classical problem of a cable passing through an aperture in a conducting shield of finite thickness is presented. An efficient (A,F ) Finite-Element formulation is adopted in order to solve the problem in terms of the three components of the magnetic vector potential A and the electric scalar potential F. The results are compared with data obtained analytically and numerically by the Method of Moments, showing a good agreement.

Abstract

A numerical analysis of the classical problem of a cable passing through an aperture in a conducting shield of finite thickness is presented. An efficient (A,F ) Finite-Element formulation is adopted in order to solve the problem in terms of the three components of the magnetic vector potential A and the electric scalar potential F. The results are compared with data obtained analytically and numerically by the Method of Moments, showing a good agreement.
