Abstract

Many universities all over the world assess both cognitive and ‘non cognitive’ skills of examinees at the entry test f or the Faculty of Medicine. In Italy, many divisions of public administration as well take into consideration the assessment of non cognitive skills e of psychological status. The current procedures to assess the examinees f or the academic course of medicine and surgery are based only on the results of cognitive tests. For a better f uture selection, the Authors suggest an experimental research that, beside the current criteria, proposes a new way to identif y the main non cognitive predictors of success within the academic courses of Medicine and Surgery. The research calls f or test, questionnaires and value interviews administration in between the entry tests and the graduation thesis. It also considers the collaboration between the universities within the experimentation and the high schools joined to them. It provides a f ollow up as well. Dif f erent are the short, middle and long term outcomes expected.
